Poison Prevention Awareness Week Flyering Event

In celebration of the national Poison Prevention Awareness Week (3/20/16-3/26/16), poison prevention logistic committee members delivered educational pamphlets, magnets, and greeting cards to four local senior homes and one birthing center. The senior citizen and expecting parent populations were targeted especially because poisoning accidents happen most often to kids under 2 years old. Since senior citizens potentially take many medications, and may also have grandchildren who visit from time to time, being aware of poison prevention and storing medication away from children is key. The ultimate purpose for distribution of this information was to make these populations aware of the Poison Control Center as a resource, but also student pharmacists involved with CSHP-UCSD’s Poison Prevention project.
