Leg Day

Legislative Day was a wonderful opportunity for pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy technicians and prepharmacy students. This event was co-sponsored with APhA-ASP/CPhA's VP of Policy Melody Padilla (P3) and UCSD-CSHP's Legislative/Current Affairs Chair Allison Cid (P2). We had representatives from ASHP, CSHP and CPhA come speak about current pharmacy legislation and why it is important get involved. Topics of legislation discussed included: provider status, reimbursement for services, regulation of PBMs and expanding roles for both pharmacists as well as pharmacy technicians. For pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, attending the event provided them with four hours of CAPE CE credit. Pharmacy students had the opportunity to attend the event as well as receive elective credit. Dr. James Colbert was our keynote speaker where he discussed pharmacist current involvement and provided and overall history of pharmacy organizations and stressed the importance of advocacy for our own profession.
